Passover Meal 2007
On Maundy Thursday we held a
Passover Meal in St John’s
Church, Long Lawford. The menu was based on the traditional Jewish menu,
probably eaten at the last supper.
We included all the usual foods of the Seder meal of lamb, egg, fresh greens,
bitter herbs, matsos, apple and red wine. Our Supper was followed by a Communion service.
About forty people attended the event,
considered to be a great success.

Christmas Tree Festival 2006
This festival, held on the first two weekends in
December in St Botolph’s, was a tremendous success. Some 1500 people visited the
church over the two weekends. Our most grateful thanks are due to everyone who
supported this event, especially those who worked so hard in organising the
Festival, those who prepared, decorated and dismantled trees and those who
stewarded and served refreshments.

you had been here !
SUNDAY 23RD APRIL AT 6.30pm IN
ST. BOTOLPH’S
A special service was held to
celebrate a remarkable 50 years of Reader Ministry by Arthur Webster. The
Preacher was the Right Reverend John Stroyan, Bishop of Warwick. The Mayor
of Rugby was in attendance. Arthur has been a Reader in this parish for
longer than most folk can remember - and for longer than many of us have been
alive! His contribution to the life of our parish has been, and continues
to be, enormous. Over the years he has worked with five different Vicars
of the parish. Over two hundred people attended this wonderful event,
during which Arthur was presented with a tie and a voucher for a Hot Air Balloon
Ride!

Diocesan Best Kept Churchyard 2005
St Botolph's was delighted to be awarded the
trophy for the Best Kept Churchyard in the Diocese for 2005. The award was
presented in September. Our thanks are due to Ray Reynolds and Lawrence Ogden
for their sterling work, without which we would not have beeen placed at all.

Teddy Bear Parachute
Jump
Rain may have stopped play at Wimbledon on
Saturday June 26th, but it didn't stop the intrepid Botolph Bears! 106 bears
took the parachute plunge from the very top of the Church Tower and we raised
over £550 in two and a half hours. Many bears bought a St Botolph's or St John's
jumper which added to the grand total.

We charged £2 for each bear but about 20 bears were sponsored mainly by church members. One lady took the form to her granddaughter's christening and raised £105 so it was well worth offering sponsor forms to those who wished. Brownies made Teddy Bear biscuits and the Cubs helped to fit the parachutes and provided enthusiastic stretcher parties to retrieve bears from nettles outside the churchyard! We also had a "Name the Bear" raffle and other bear related events. We had excellent coverage from three local papers and the local radio station. Rugby's Carnival Queen also graced the event, wearing tiara and anorak. We held the jump as part of our annual fete which overall raised about £2000.
