St Botolph’s Building Restoration Appeal

The money raised so far towards the restoration appeal is over£40,400 and we thank everyone who has contributed to this splendid amount.

Further fund raising will continue.

Progress so far
The architect has completed drawings and specifications for:

tower roof and masonry repairs (start at the top!)

masonry repairs to the south clerestory tracery

bell chamber floor repairs; clock chamber floor alterations

fitting bell rope guides in the ringing chamber; providing fire escape.

clock and organ restoration, which will follow completion of the ‘dirty’ work.

A volunteer has replaced the door to the tower roof in oak.

We have repaired the tower stairs ourselves using approved materials.

We have fitted a hearing loop in the South side of the Nave which FOSBOTS have paid for.

We have replaced the North Porch Benches and redecorated the porch.

A Disabled Access Path has been laid from the main church path to the Chancel Door; mats have been fitted in the Chancel.

A new drain has been fitted across the North Porch.

The South Porch Doors and Windows have been repainted.

Next steps

The architect has obtained quotations for the work from approved contractors. This means we need to raise a further £85,000 from charity grants or other sources. We have applied to English Heritage and will apply to others when the outcome of the EH application is known, in December/January.
