St Botolph’s Building Restoration Appeal
The money raised so far towards the restoration appeal is £40,221.32 as at 11th June, and we thank everyone who has contributed to this splendid amount.
Further fund raising will continue.
Progress so
far
The architect has completed drawings and specifications for:
tower roof and masonry repairs (start at the top!)
masonry repairs to the south clerestory tracery
bell chamber floor repairs; clock chamber floor alterations
fitting bell rope guides in
the ringing chamber; providing
fire escape.
clock and organ restoration,
which will follow completion of
the ‘dirty’ work.
A volunteer has replaced the door to the tower roof in oak. We have partially repaired the tower stairs ourselves using approved materials. We have fitted a hearing loop in the South side of the Nave which FOSBOTS will pay.
Next steps
The
architect is applying for the Faculty from the Diocese which we need before we
can proceed. The architect is also obtaining quotations for the work from
approved contractors. We are continuing with repairs to the tower stairs and
pursuing plans for disabled access.
